Celebrate Brazilian Day with 910 Live

(GREATER PHOENIX, Ariz.) – 910 LIVE is bringing “Brazilian Day,” a worldwide celebration of Brazil’s Independence Day, to the Valley Saturday, September 18. “Brazilian Day Arizona” celebrates the essence of the Brazilian culture while igniting a grand celebration of new life, fanfare and excitement. The festival will feature cultural live music, dance, art, visuals and eclectic performances including special headline guest “Grupo Brasilidade”, Rio de Janeiro’s premier Brazilian “Pagode” band – lead by band leader & Unica Samba School director; Flavio Ribeiro. This event will begin at 8:00 p.m. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.

For over 12 years Grupo Brasilidade (currently residing in Los Angeles, CA) has toured the U.S. bringing their dynamic stage show to various cities and festivals while igniting the sounds of Brazil through Samba and Rio’s decorated sound called Pagode. Also joining the evening’s festivities is Co-headliner – banda “Som Brasíl” (originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil), an eclectic 7-piece band set to rock the evening’s festivities with booming sounds from Sao Paulo & Bahia. DJ Seduce will round out the evening festivities spinning a musical menagerie of classic and currents sound of Brazil including Samba, Axe, Funk and Electronica.
Not just music, but a live Capoeira Show by Professor Camara & Grupo Axe Capoeira Arizona will be held with their 20 plus members demonstrating the age old technique of Brazilian martial arts & dance. Grupo Axe Capoeira was the first group in Arizona to open a Capoeira Academy & Dance Culture Center in 2003. Along with Capoeira, talented Brazilian Belly Dancer, Daniele Vosler of Sao Paulo (Br) will also be performing and hosting the 1st Annual Brazilian Samba Queen Contest. The Samba Queen contest will consist of ladies who sign up to dance and perform samba. The judging will be based on Samba Dance, Energy, Crowd interaction, performance and crowd participation. The winner will be crowned the official Samba Queen of Arizona 2010.
Rounding out the evening’s festivities, Artist David Ware, one of Arizona’s most prominent and culturally driven artists will be painting live on canvas with a focus on Brazilian culture, while Maria Vassett from The Vassett Agency will be on hand snapping photos of the evening’s celebration. Authentic Brazilian food along with Brazil’s national drink of choice, Caipirinha’s, will also be available, plus Brazilian merchandise tables, giveaways and prizes throughout the night.
